Sitting crisscross, propping your feet up on the dashboard, or twisting sideways in your seat can feel&nbsp;relaxing&nbsp;in&nbsp;the moment.&nbsp;However, if&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;in an accident, the consequences can be painful.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airbags are designed to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flhsmv.gov\/safety-center\/consumer-education\/safety-warnings\/air-bag-warning-for-adults\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deploy at&nbsp;speeds of&nbsp;around 200&nbsp;miles per hour&nbsp;in a fraction of a second<\/a>. But what many people&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;realize is that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorbiscuit.com\/never-wear-1-type-hair-clip-driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claw clips can pose a serious risk during a car accident<\/a>,&nbsp;especially rear-end collisions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When your head snaps backward into the headrest, a rigid claw clip can press directly into&nbsp;the back of your head and impale your scalp or skull. But unlike traditional sedans, many SUVs&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;have a fully enclosed trunk area.&nbsp;That means anything in the back can&nbsp;fly&nbsp;forward during an accident.&nbsp;Even worse than a Stanley, a baseball bat or football helmet is the last thing you want&nbsp;hitting&nbsp;you in the head.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When carrying sports equipment, store&nbsp;it&nbsp;in bins or bags and use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/drive-safe-secure-your-load\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cargo nets to secure your trunk area<\/a>&nbsp;or tie&nbsp;it&nbsp;down with straps. When a bulky coat is between you and the belt, it creates extra space.
