Abby wanted to help her friends the Segners, founders of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healingfaithuganda.org\/\">Healing Faith<\/a>, provide mosquito nets for families in Uganda to prevent the spread of malaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, Nickels for Nets has grown into a fundraising venue used by churches, civic organizations, college clubs, and families across the country to help increase awareness about malaria and provide funding for Healing Faith&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healingfaithuganda.org\/what-we-do\/\">Malaria Outreach Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malaria is preventable, treatable, and curable, yet it remains a leading killer for children under five in Uganda. Every 60 seconds a child somewhere in the world dies from malaria, and Uganda is one of six countries that accounts for 47% of all cases of malaria in Africa. Every year 70,000 to 100,000 children die in Uganda because of malaria. Through their Malaria Outreach Program, Healing Faith partners with villages to provide critical education about how to prevent and identify malaria. Healing Faith&#8217;s malaria teams then go house to house to hang nets, conduct malaria tests, and provide the life-saving medicine needed to treat the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nickels for Nets fundraising campaigns help provide the nets, malaria tests, and medicine for this critical and life-saving outreach.&nbsp; Families, churches, and organizations around the country have held Nickels for Nets fundraising campaigns, helping Healing Faith hang more than 2,000 nets in 2015 alone! A life-saving mosquito net costs just $5 and covers multiple children in one Ugandan family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nickels for Nets fundraising packets are available for download at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.healingfaithuganda.org\/nickels-for-nets\/\">NickelsforNets.com<\/a>.
