The Texas Construction Accident Lawyers with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers point out working in the construction industry can put employees at serious risk of suffering an injury. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that last year the industry ranked as having some of the highest fatality rates in the nation last year. One of the leading causes listed for these fatalities were slip, trip, and fall accidents.
More recently though, a slip and fall accident resulted in one worker being killed and another seriously injured earlier this month. According to an article from the Daily Journal, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, in Live Oak County. Reports indicate that the workers were performing maintenance duties on a railroad bridge outside the town of Mathis, Texas, when the hydraulic lift they were on suddenly collapsed. The machine’s failure caused the two men to fall roughly 30 feet to the ground. One of the men died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the fall. The other was rushed to a local hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.
Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the accident and if it could’ve been prevented.
Daniel Stark’s team of Texas Personal Injury Lawyers recognizes how devastating a work-related accident can be in the lives of the victim and their family. That’s why the firm sends their sympathies to the family of the victim of this tragic accident.
