Daniel Stark Law Hosts Annual Car Seat Event, Promoting Texas Child Safety
BRYAN, Texas — Daniel Stark Law hosted their 16th annual National Seat Check event on September 23rd, 2023. The event, held at the Brazos Center in Bryan, offered free car seat inspections and distributed children’s car seats to the community.
Daniel Stark partnered with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Save a Life TxDOT to conduct safety assessments, replacing any car seats that did not meet the necessary criteria. During the event, 54 car seat inspections were conducted. In all, Daniel Stark provided 35 new child car seats to the community, distributed and installed by trained technicians at no cost.
Linda McMillan, Public Communications Director at Daniel Stark, shared the motivation behind the event: “Our founding partner, Danny Daniel, experienced challenges installing a car seat when his first child was born. Recognizing that others might face similar difficulties, he wanted to help parents in the community. As a personal injury firm, we often witness the consequences of improper installation.”
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, child restraints saved the lives of 11,606 children from 1975 to 2017. However, only 1 in 5 parents regularly check their child’s car seat for correct installation, and 46% of children are not buckled up properly. The correct usage of child safety seats results in lower medical costs, prevention of lost future earnings, and improved quality of life for children after a collision. AgriLife estimates that proper child car seat use has a total economic impact of $80,047.
