BRYAN, Texas — Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers, a Texas-based plaintiff’s personal injury firm, is proud to announce the five winners of the 2025 Extraordinary Scholarship. Each year, Daniel Stark selects five extraordinary high school seniors to receive $1,000 toward their college tuition for the resilience, leadership and dedication they bring to their communities.
This year’s scholarship prompt challenged students to reflect on:
“How have you demonstrated leadership in unexpected situations, and what was the effect on those around you?”
The Extraordinary Scholarship was created on the belief that academic achievements aren’t the only measure of a student’s greatness. The struggles students face, the obstacles they overcome, and the dedication they pour back into their communities are just as important and worth celebrating.
“At Daniel Stark, we created this scholarship because we believe in investing in students who demonstrate strong character, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact,” Madeline Rutherford, Daniel Stark community coordinator said. “Higher education can be a financial challenge, and we want to do our part to support the young leaders in our community who are working hard to build something better. That’s why every application is personally reviewed, and why we take the selection process so seriously. The students we ultimately select are the ones who truly embody the values that drive our firm forward.”
In reviewing this year’s applicants, the selection committee was particularly moved by the students’ resilience in the face of adversity. Their stories serve as powerful reminders that meaningful change often begins with a single voice willing to step up in difficult times.
The winners of the 2025 Extraordinary Scholarship are:
- Jamie Coss from Austin—attending Dartmouth College
- Jazmin Mauricio from Bryan—attending Texas A&M University
- Brenda Thomas from Killeen—attending University of Texas
- Alexis Kempt from Tyler—attending East Texas Baptist University
- Oscar Huerta from Waco—attending Baylor University
Daniel Stark congratulates Jamie, Jazmin, Brenda, Alexis and Oscar, and wishes them continued success in college and beyond.
“I knew I was going to college but being first-generation and low-income made that path much more challenging,” winner Jamie Coss said. “This scholarship represents years of hard work paying off and brings me one step closer to achieving my dreams of being a scholar immersed in my studies—not forced to choose between excellence in the classroom or putting in more hours at my job to pay tuition.”
“This scholarship will be a huge help to my family,” Alexis Kempt added. “They have always supported my dreams of playing softball in college. When I fell in love with the program at ETBU, we knew it would be a challenge financially, but they said, ‘We will make it work.’ This scholarship helps make my dreams come true.”
Daniel Stark will kick off the application process for the next Extraordinary Scholarship in early 2026. High school seniors can apply by visiting DanielStark.com.
